“When Making Fun of Yourself Can Be Healthy”
from: verywellmind.com
Seeing yourself with “gentle humor” is a healthy mental state of being, as opposed to being self-demeaning or negative, which are both very unhealthy. Emotion experts do suggest that being able to laugh at yourself can be healthy when it fits into the following perimeters:
- Allows you to view the mistake or inability with kindness
- Allows you to see that embarrassment or difficulties can be funny
- Allows you to laugh at yourself without being self-demeaning
If your self-image turns from kindness to cruelty, try “reframing” your mind to a more positive image.
