Technology Continued
Getting to the doctor’s office can be a major challenge for those seniors that have limited mobility and/or lack transportation. Today’s technology has developed devices and apps that address the problem and make doctor visits much easier. Telemedicine has made it possible for a senior to meet face-to-face with the provider via computer screen, allowing the patient to get answers on questions and get prescriptions for medicines for any condition from minor issues to chronic problems, in their own home. Another device is available that measures both blood pressure and EKG monitoring, and with the use of an app, that data can be shared with your doctor.
Falls are a major risk and one of the leading causes of death among seniors 65 and over. There is now technology that helps with that risk. This device tracks the movement of the senior and then measures their risk of falling.
Go online to find more information about these technologies, devices, and apps, that would make seniors more independent, healthier and safer in their own homes.
