Technological advances have developed devices that can alert others in the event of a senior’s emergency.
BellPal has a watch that acts as an emergency alert. It comes in two different options. The first, Family and Friends Option, alerts named individuals via smart phone in the case of an emergency. The Professional Option, connects EMS, police and/or fire departments 24/7 if a situation arises. BellPal can also detect when the wearer has fallen and sends an alert.
CarePredict@Home has a smart, wearable device that uses artificial intelligence to detect changes in the senior’s daily patterns, that could possibly be a health issue. Issues such as skipping meals, sleep problems, not getting out of bed, or thing else out of the ordinary. These detections are sent as alerts to named individuals.
These devices and others that are similar, allow seniors to stay at home independently, and feel confident that in a serious situation, others will be alerted. For family members, they are eased by knowing they will be contacted immediately in the case of a problem.
