Elder Care Advocacy
Another unit of Montana’s Aging Services is the Elder Care Advocacy. Elder Care Advocacy (EDM) was formally called Montana Silver Haired Legislators. EDM’s purpose is to provide a senior voice to our elected state legislators. They draft bills and resolutions that are of concern to Montana’s senior population, to be presented in the state’s legislative session. The EDM’s success rate in passage of their bills and resolutions is over 80%. However, to maintain this success rate, more local advocates are needed;
The process of joining and participating in EDM is a simple process;
A training session is held
The bills and resolutions are written
A 1-day legislative session is held to pass the bills and resolutions If you or someone you know has an interest in participating in EDM, contact Montana Department of Health and Human Services, Aging Services Unit
