Celebrating the Holidays with COVID-19
2020 has been a year of so many challenges, worst of them being COVID-19. Now we are into the holiday season and looking forward to seeing family and friends, albeit with COVID-19 protocol firmly in place (social distancing, masking, and hand sanitization). But what about those many seniors that will be facing Christmas alone? They may live independently in their own home, a retirement facility, assisted living, or a nursing home, but the loneliness haunts them all the same. Aware Senior Care has put together a list of 15 ideas to help brighten this group’s Holidays. Below are few of those suggestion;
1 – Send a handwritten note and/or a picture drawing from your children
2 – Schedule a video call with their family and old friends
3 – Be a volunteer for Meals on Wheels
4 – Send a movie and microwave popcorn to enjoy
5 – Purchase a few small gifts and surprise them with a “Porch Party Drop”
6 – Develop a routine to stay connected (Probably the most important)
